Shopping for shoes <3

Two months ago I went to Italy with my dad. It was essential for me to find shoes for winter since the weather here in Europe is getting colder. Usually, I buy my shoes in the US.
My father is an Artist  and was participating in the Milan Biennale. I accompanied him and used the opportunity to check the shops in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I thought since Milan is one of the fashion Metropol in the world that It would be straightforward to find shoes for a girl with big feet and wide calves like me. Sadly the journey was harder than I thought; most places have sizes for “normal women” and practically nothing for my size category. I saw things that I would like to try in the windows. Still, inside I got the standard answer: Sorry we don’t have bigger numbers, the brand you are interested in does not produce big sizes, those sizes are only available online. So that after visiting many shops in Piacenza and Milan, I decided to go to an outlet.
Since I was wearing my favorite shoes, which are from Micheal Kors, I thought that would be an excellent place to start. Just my luck, I got another unpolite sales clerk who said (in a very harsh deminer): Our brand does not make shoes in your size !. After that harsh tone, I wanted to take off my shoe and throw it in his face and say what is this, but, of course, I am not the person to do that. He could have said our brand produces different merchandise or products here than in the US. After this very discouraging experience, I did not feel that I will find what I came for.
Finally, I found shoes at Dolce Gabbana, where I usually would never Shop, but the prices were irresistible. I found high ankle sneakers made of leather, so I bought them. Then we went to Prada and found ankle booties, which just fit like a glove, so bought those too. As a solution, one can also look at men’s shoes because they are bigger and broader since unisex fashion is a trend now. These boots are not only fashion-forward but comfortable.
Back in Vienna, we found shoes here in a store close to our house, which sometimes, not always, sell shoes for women with big feet and wide calves. A sales lady explained that she recommends this shoe brand Ara which sells boots and other types of shoes for a bigger spectrum of clients. One has to keep an open mind and have the will to find your perfect shoes. People like me would agree that many times when we enter a shop, we have the feeling that we are invisible to shop clerks. It looks like they know already that they have nothing to buy-in their shops; that’s why they don’t want to waste their time answering our inquiries about their merchandise. The option of buying online is risky since most, if not all of the mannequins, even though they are still plus size, are on the skinnier side, so it’s hard for me to imagine how the clothes will look on me. The designs of shoes and clothes are designed initially for the S and M sizes of women and then adapted to plus sizes. It would be better for the plus sizes if the designers start thinking about making clothes for people like me since our needs are different in terms of materials and shapes and stop the adaptations of the S and M sizes. #letsbeinclusivetoallsizesnotonlyskinny #thinkbig

  1. My husband and I just started our first Whole30 on Monday! We were using some of the recipes for dinner ideas in an attempt to make healthier choices and last week just decided to jump off the deep end, commit and do it. I loved your idea about hosting a brunch for some friends to gt some social interaction. Thats a really great idea! Annis Stan Serene

  2. Howdy superb blog! Does running a blog like this require a great deal of work? I have virtually no understanding of computer programming but I had been hoping to start my own blog soon. Anyhow, if you have any suggestions or techniques for new blog owners please share. I understand this is off subject but I simply had to ask. Many thanks! Nadiya Ronny Grimonia

  5. I?m amazed, I should say. Truly rarely do I experience a blog that?s both enlightening and also amusing, and also let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your concept is outstanding; the issue is something that not nearly enough individuals are talking wisely about.
